Choosing the Best Commercial Rice Cookers

A top of the line commercial rice cooker is a must if you own a restaurant that specializes in sushi or paella or other rice based menu items. Below are some pointers to follow when choosing the best commercial rice cookers.

On/Off commercial cooker

We know that the reliable on/off commercial cooker cooks nice rice, automatically turning off when the rice is cooked. These commercial cookers do not cost you much. So if you’re tight on budget, I say consider this type of commercial rice cooker.

Some on/off rice cookers have warming features. If you’re willing to shell out some extra cash, consider buying one with this feature. This commercial cooker is a must if you have a food business.

An on/off commercial rice cooker can keep your favorite rice warm for around 12 hours. So it is definitely worth your investment.

Fuzzy Logic commercial rice cooker

Do you need a commercial rice cooker sporting Fuzzy Logic technology? You will need one if you are looking for a more advanced commercial cooker; such cooker has high-end settings for porridge, soup, steamer, brown rice, as well as rice texture (hard or soft). This type of commercial cooker is nice, but they are more expensive compared to an on/off rice cooker.

Induction heating system

High-end commercial rice cookers often feature induction heating. The rice cooker’s induction heating technology enables you to make the perfect rice.

Commercial cookers that have this system feature accurate temperature sensing processes. Heat radiates from below and is also distributed evenly throughout the entire pan.

Design

If you are very picky about the style of your commercial rice cooker, buy one that matches your restaurant design perfectly well. Commercial rice cookers available on the market today come in different shapes and colors. Some look very traditional, while others look out-of-this-world.

Other considerations

Make sure your commercial cooker has easy to clean parts. A cooker with a removable and dishwasher-safe bowl makes the job much easier and quicker. Go for commercial rice cookers that have nonstick bowls.

What to Remember in Getting 3 Cup Rice Cookers

For me, a rice cooker is one of the most useful appliances you could have in your kitchen. However, many people don’t own a rice cooker. Others can’t imagine themselves buying one. On the other hand, there are many others who’ve used rice cookers and promise themselves they won’t return to the pot-on-the-stove method.

I love rice and I need the perfect rice cooker. I hated rice before. But my partner introduced me to rice. Now, I eat rice My partner and I cook rice almost everyday.

We’re happy with our 3 cup cooker. This article lists some of the considerations when getting 3 cup rice cookers.

How much rice to cook

A 3 cup rice cooker is the best size for people who don’t need to cook much rice at a time. It is not recommended for people who cook too much rice since it’s not designed to handle such amount of rice. Having a 3 cup rice cooker when you’re cooking 4 cups means a messy counter. There will be spilling over and splattering, for sure.

When using a 3 cup rice cooker, avoid cooking less than 2 cups of rice. It can lead to overcooking and drying. ¬I know you don’t want that to happen. So make sure to cook only 2 to 3 cups of rice at one time.

We’re to get a 5 cup cooker. But a dear friend said it’s not suitable for a couple who eat much rice. It’s too big. Instead, she suggested us to get a 3 cup rice cooker. So we did. Our 3 cupper is the best.

Rice cooker cost

Cost is the most important factor in choosing a 3 cup cooker. Lower end rice cookers and the higher end ones significantly differ in price. The lower end types cost about $15 to $30. On the other hand, top-class rice cookers cost around $150-$200 or more.

Buying inexpensive 3 cup rice cookers is a good move if you’re only cooking regular rice. You’ll need top class cookers if you often cook different types of rice.

Check for some practical features

Look for some practical features when choosing a 3 cupper. Some features that you might want to take into consideration include a nonstick bowl and an inner lid that you can remove for cleaning purposes. Also check if the rice cooker supports different types of rice (brown, white, mixed, etc.). You’ll need to shell out a little more on the r cup rice cooker to get extra options.

What I Like about Zojirushi Rice Cookers?

When I ask people what brand of rice cooker they prefer, Zojirushi always comes up in their responses. This says a lot about the quality of these rice cookers. Zojirushi rice cookers dominate the market in Japan, and they’re increasingly become popular in many parts of the globe. I’ve used some cookers before and I was very disappointed.

These rice cookers by Zojirushi sport some nice features. Zojirushi has something for people with tight budget or people who don’t need extra features. Zojirushi also has great rice cookers that sport the most technologically advanced features. Whether you’re a single person, a couple, or a family, Zojirushi offers the rice cooker that will perfectly fit your needs.

Zojirushi has a lot of useful features throughout their rice cooker series. Below are the features that I really like:

Fuzzy Logic technology

A lot of Zojirushi rice cookers sport Fuzzy Logic technology. Actually, nearly all mid- to high-end Zojirushi rice cooker models sport this feature. If you’re very picky about the way the rice turns out, then get a Zojirushi rice cooker that has the Fuzzy Logic technology.

What’s Neuro Fuzzy? It’s the newest Fuzzy logic version. The Fuzzy Logic and the Neuro Fuzzy technologies work well. Rice cookers that feature Neuro Fuzzy technology are able to update the temperature and time regularly. This technology makes sure that you cook your rice just fine. This technology also helps lessen the effects of poor measuring and other human errors.

Induction heating feature

The induction heating technology is present in the top of the line Zojirushi products. Induction heating means consistent heating, thus consistent rice cooking. The induction heating system is a great feature since it makes sure that the cooking is uniform on the edge and center of your cooker. A rice cooker with this technology will make great rice.

Warming feature

Warming technology is one of the selling points of any Zojirushi rice cooker. All but a chosen few come with warming features these days. I say go for rice cookers with a warming feature. At the very least, rice cookers with this feature keeps your rice warm for many hours after cooking it.

Some Zojirushi rice cookers can even re-warm your rice. So reheating the rice and other food in your rice cooker would be easy. Here’s a tip: use only the warming feature if you’re cooking rice more than the usual amount. Using the re-warming feature can dry your rice out if you’re cooking one or two cups of rice. And dry rice is a no-no for me.

Innovation

I like the rice cookers from Zojirushi because they try to innovate. According to Zojirushi, the Rizo, their newest model, has a design that perfectly suits the western kitchen. The leading rice cooker maker also has the great ‘i-pot’. The great thing about this innovative rice cooker is that it can text you on your mobile phone in case you haven’t  cooked with it for quite some time.

Pros and Cons of Cuisinart Rice Cookers

There are currently two Cuisinart rice cookers: the 4-cup Cuisinart CRC-400 and the 8-cup Cuisinart Rice Cooker CRC-800. These two rice cookers almost look identical, the size being the only major difference. They have a nice-looking brushed stainless steel exterior. Both comes with a nonstick bowl, and their baskets are made of stainless steel, which is very good for steaming veggies and also your favorite seafood.

The Cuisinart CRC-400 and the CRC-800 are good rice cookers because they have a boiling method that’s easy to use. They come with measuring cup, plastic rice spoon, and glass top lid (removable). Each also includes a manual with easy to follow recipes. But they don’t feature the Fuzzy Logic technology. They also don’t have advanced settings for various types of rice. Both also don’t have a programmable timer. Despite the lack of features, these rice cookers can cook a nice bowl of rice. But still, many users are not happy about Cuisinart rice cookers.

Cuisinart 4-cup CRC-400

The CRC-400’s stylish design is a plus. It fits well on your countertop because of its compact size. Overall, it matches almost all kitchen designs. This rice cooker is easy to clean and has parts that are dishwasher safe. Another thing that we like about it is that it has decent cooking times.

However, many consumers don’t like the splattering. But you can avoid this by rinsing the water. And for every cup of rice, add one teaspoon of vegetable oil. This can solve the problem most of the time.

It comes with a rather small steaming tray for preparing veggies, seafood, and poultry. This rice cooker is only good for the needs of two persons. Many users also complain about the water and rice ratio learning curve. But this cooker does a fine job cooking good rice after you’ve dealt with the water-to-rice learning curve issue. This cooker catches up with other rice cookers available in the market.

Cuisinart CRC-800

The Cuisinart 8-cup CRC-800 looks stylish and smooth feel. The outside of this rice cooker sports a brushed and sleek stainless steel. It’s a good looking cooker to have in you kitchen. You don’t have to worry about its handles since it’s chrome plated and touch friendly.Your hands won’t get burned when you move the cooker.

The Cuisinart 8-cup CRC-800 has standard lever control and warming settings. It also has retractable cord storage. It also comes with a plastic measuring cup and fine rice paddle. It comes with a 3-year warranty.

On the other hand, while the cooking pot features a nonstick coating, the rice sticks. The manual says you’ve got to spray the bottom to prevent sticking. Still, a nonstick bowl should be nonstick, whether you spray it or not. But a lot of users attest that there’s no problem with sticking.

Many consumers complain that the 8-cup CRC-800 has some minor splattering issues like the 4-cup CRC-400. True, this rice cooker tries to prevent spilling over with its steam vent. It won’t spill if you don’t cook more than 6 cups. Splattering is an issue when you cook too much rice, about 8 cups.
