Emergency Meals For The Desperate Man

It is getting close to dinnertime. You are starting to get hungry. For some reason, dinner is up to you. Maybe the wife is gone for the weekend. Maybe you live alone. Will you sit at your dining room furniture set, with fork and knife in hand, and dream? You could always have takeout food. It is not too healthy. Maybe you do not have a lot of money. You may need to make do, with what you have. Look around the kitchen and pantry. You might find a meal.

You should be able to find a meal in the pantry. Check for things like rice. Are there potatoes in there somewhere? There may be canned vegetables. Maybe there are some saltine crackers. There should be many spices. You can pick your recipe items right here. You may have everything you need for homemade potato soup. It is healthy and filling, with an attractive price tag.

Look for some onions. If you do not have them, you can substitute onion salt or onion powder. Check your refrigerator for some celery. If you have no celery, celery salt or celery seed, will do. If you have three or four potatoes, wash them. Peel them and cut them into small pieces. Put the potato pieces in water. How much water will you require?

You water requirements will be determined by your hunger. A medium pot is for hungry. A larger pot is for ravenous. You do not have to use your stove. Get out your wife’s Sanyo rice cooker. It will work for this recipe. Add the celery and onions to the water. Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut the potatoes into small pieces. Place the potatoes in the water. Cook until the potatoes are soft. They should smash with a spoon, easily. Your potatoes should take about ten or fifteen minutes to cook.

When your potatoes are good and soft, you can thicken the soup. Add some instant mashed potatoes to the mix. Turn the heat off. Also, add about a tablespoon of margarine or butter. You should add about 240 cc or one cup of milk. Any type of milk will work.

Before you eat it, you can add saltine crackers and some additional celery salt. This will add some thickness and texture to the soup. Make sure and clean up when you finish. You do not want your significant other to think that you cannot take care of yourself.

Summary

Man can survive with woman, at least for short periods. You may need to be creative. You can make yourself an edible meal from items in your pantry. An electric rice cooker will work for many things besides making rice. There is no reason to go to bed hungry.
