this video is what we should show our children at school or at home instead of the hollywood mtv trash! this is part of the american heritage and culture… I hate it when kids sing black eyed peas song and don’t give a shit about their past generation

  • xXxSasuHinaLoverxXx says:

Wow I’m 14 years old and I find this so cool! I want my mom to cook the food this nice lady is showing us ^_^ I enjoy the music and all that crap now but, I love culture! I wish kids at my school could appreciate it to makes me feel so lonely knowing kids in my generation don’t care about past the reason we are here etc. Thank SOOOOOO much for posting these videos I love them :)

Almost everything in moderation is good, and perhaps eating simpler and applying Clara’s depression cooking to your eating routine seems like a good idea. Eating when one is hungry and not when one thinks is hungry, and eat to live not live to eat is a good motto, Clara is an inspiration, Kudos

This is really fantastic! So many cuisine vids out there, but no-one has had the thought of putting the cuisine of the ‘depression’ time online – what kind of food people used to eat, how they coped on a low budget. This is very insightful. Thanks to the author of this vid. All my regards to the granny – she looks like a very brave woman.

  • PopTVTeacher says:

@Glossika That’s very true, but what I don’t like is that some adults I know blame it on the new generation, and the internet, and technology, to which I say “that’s not culture loss- it’s culture change”. I mean, we don’t throw a man and a lion into an arena anymore, and that’s a loss of culture, or change as it were. I would just say that there are good changes and bad changes. So while I’m glad this food isn’t necessary, I love that they exist to educate us on the Depression.

Clara, I love this recipe. It’s so flavorful and satisfying without having to use so many other kinds of ingredients.

  • EricSchwin22 says:

A lot of people have to realize that these are the foods that they had during these times… you had to eat it and live with it. Now, we have a variety of foods available all year round because of the convenient Technology we have.

  • requiemvlog says:

Excellent video and recipe. I’m sure that one can add some onions and it would enhance the flavor even more. Here in Spain we’d call this dish a pepper omelette.

  • Robind0514 says:
